Many thought that the death of Buenos Aires bookstores was imminent. However, in Cummings Street we find evidence that there are still people who have not been conquered by the Internet phenomenon and who remain faithful to printed paper.
When we enter "Cummings 1" we breathe a foreign air. From the door you can hear the “gringo” accent of Marion Koch, an American who, together with James Henkel, decided a year ago to found a space that mixes reading and art.
On its few shelves, texts in English, French and Portuguese predominate over literature in our language. This is not surprising, if we consider that one of the motivations for creating this place was to allow foreigners to learn more about Latin American culture, in their respective languages. Without forgetting the national public, which is interested in other topics such as novels or politics.

There are several alternatives to get to Valparaíso:
By bus
The trip takes 1 hour 45 minutes from Santiago. Existing departures with a frequency of 15 minutes, the bus companies offer a good level of service and comfort.
By car
For those who wish to arrive by car from Santiago, they should take Route 68, the estimated travel time being 1 hour and 30 minutes.
This North American invention is not limited to texts, but the novel quota is set by regional artists, who after going through the selection of the owners themselves, can display their sculptures, photographs or hang their fabrics on the walls of the bookstore.
For a year now "Cummings 1" has given us the opportunity to "showcase" books, in a considerably more welcoming environment than the classic mall bookstores, and above all to show us other artistic disciplines in the midst of such an everyday act, such as going to buy a book.
